New Studio Album Slated For Release In Late Spring 2012

(New York, NY) - Grammy-nominated metal act Shadows Fall will hit the road for a string of headlining tour dates this February where they will play intimate warm up shows in select cities this February. The band will then head to Australia for Soundwave 2012 (full tour dates below).

Shadows Fall has just wrapped recording their seventh official studio album at Zing Studios. The band did a live chat with fans on Livestream from the recording studio, watch HERE. Slated for a late spring 2012 release, the new record reunites the band with long-time friend, producer/engineer and Killswitch Engage/Times Of Grace guitarist, Adam Dutkiewicz. Adam D., who has previously helmed the boards on albums for All That Remains, As I Lay Dying, Unearth, The Devil Wears Prada, and Every Time I Die, is also intimately involved in the writing of the new Shadows Fall material.

Formed in 1996, Shadows Fall emerged from Springfield, Massachusetts in 1996 as a D.I.Y. band that ultimately found legions of fans, worldwide fame, Grammy nominations, and rock radio success. The band has released six studio albums, two DVDs, a collection of B-sides and one Greatest Hits compilation, selling over 770,000 to date and has had music featured on the hugely popular video game series Guitar Hero. With the band's sound often described as having an unmistakable, seamless blend of metal and hard rock, Shadows Fall has grown to help define the very essence of modern aggressive music, showcasing their distinctive mix of bone-splintering aggression and melodic nuance. Shadows Fall has toured extensively with such bands as Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Stone Sour, Lacuna Coil, Trivium, Dragonforce, Killswitch Engage, As I Lay Dying, Slipknot, Five Finger Death Punch, Lamb Of God.

Dave Barnes explains "Mine to Love," "I wrote this song after I found out that my wife and I were pregnant. I couldn't stop thinking about the possibility of having a child, and this song poured out of all those emotions. I've never been as emotional as I was writing this song. I had to stop a few times while writing it due to that."

Dave Barnes also recently received his first Grammy nomination for Best Country Song for "God Gave Me You," as performed by Blake Shelton. Barnes will attend the Grammy Awards on February 12th. Barnes' and Shelton's versions of the song have sold over one million singles to date and the song has had enormous success at radio.

Stories To Tell is Barnes' fourth studio album for Razor & Tie and a first for Barnes on many levels. The album was recorded in Los Angeles with producer John Fields, marking the first time Barnes has recorded outside of his home town Nashville, TN. Leaving everything familiar behind with his writing and recording processes forced Dave to venture outside of his creative comfort zone. Stories To Tell also presents a stylistic departure from his previous releases. Adding more programming and synth sounds than previous Barnes' albums, Stories To Tell, did not suffer from rules and restrictions when it comes to instrumentation. The electronic flourishes on this album add dynamics that are not typical when it comes to most singer-songwriters. Using orchestral accents, syncopated percussion alongside his soulful, impassioned vocals, the album introduces Barnes' fans to eleven finely tuned and honestly crafted songs with a strong pop sound. An artist that has never adhered to a specific genre, Barnes' music is generally inspired by an array of music influences ranging from rock, pop and country to blues, soul and R&B.

Nashville-based Dave Barnes' last album, the 2010 release What We Want, What We Get, features the Grammy nominated song "God Gave Me You." This album debuted at #59 on the Billboard top 200 album chart, #17 on the Billboard Rock Chart and #15 on the digital albums chart. Barnes has sold over 155,000 albums to date and over 510,000 individual song downloads. Dave has toured with notable acts including John Mayer, Taylor Swift, Lady Antebellum, Bonnie Raitt, and One Republic as well as festivals such as Bonnaroo. His music has been featured in television shows such as CW's "Life Unexpected," Disney's "Suite Life On Deck," ABC's "Brothers And Sisters" and WB's "Summerland," as well as the films Employee Of The Month and My Super Ex-Girlfriend. Dave Barnes songs have been covered by a bevy of other artists including, country singers Blake Shelton and Billy Currington as well as Marc Broussard, Kelly Clarkson, Bethany Dillon, to name a few. Barnes has been recognized by the industry as a rising songwriter. Billboard Magazine touted "Many of the best pop songwriters come out of Nashville, and Dave Barnes is one such singer/scribe now building momentum." Dave Barnes is signed to leading independent label Razor & Tie and is administered by Razor & Tie Music Publishing.

Additional Headlining Dates With The Front Bottoms Confirmed

Confirmed for SXSW 2012

Music and Videos Available To Post (See Below)

(New York, NY) Brooklyn singer-songwriter Kevin Devine is confirmed as direct support to Say Anything on their nationwide tour this spring. The tour will kick off on March 24th in San Francisco, CA and will make stops across the country before concluding in West Hollywood, CA on May 3rd (tour dates below). The tour features additional support from Fake Problems, The Front Bottoms (select dates) and Tallhart (select dates). Prior to heading out with Say Anything, Devine will headline a short string of dates with The Front Bottoms as support while routing to and from SXSW 2012 (showcase information forthcoming).

"Though I've never personally met Say Anything, we have a bunch of mutual friends and former tourmates, all of whom spoke real highly of their experiences touring with the band, and about the open and attentive nature of their fans," said Kevin Devine. "I've had the pleasure of exchanging e-mails with Max over the past couple of months and have found him to be a thoughtful, sweet guy. I think the shows will be a welcome stretch for all of us."

While down at Deluna Fest, Kevin filmed a "Snapshots" segment for NBC's Last Call with Carson Daly that can be viewed HERE. After the wildly successful festival, Devine returned to New York for a sold out CMJ show at Highline Ballroom (also the official launch event for MECA/inBloom). Kevin teamed up with Musician's Energy Conservation Alliance (MECA) to become the first musician to use their new app, inBloom, designed by Andy Ross of OK Go and Eytan Oren. (More info on app available HERE). Kevin also recently recorded a CBS Streetdate Session - view HERE

"My collaboration with Kevin at Rob Schnapf's was an incredibly inspirational music moment for me, and served as a strong reminder of why we collaborate as artists," said Morgin Kibby of M83. "Subsequently remixing Kevin's work was daunting... I had to throw all caution to the wind and commit to giving him something unexpected; he was totally game and I'm thrilled he liked the outcome."

Known for his acoustic musings Kevin Devine's latest release, Between the Concrete & Clouds debuted at #5 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. Without losing his lyrical density, Kevin explored the technical side of creating structurally more traditional pop songs, evident in the shorter tracks on BTC&C. Devine has received numerous accolades from press and fans alike over the span of his nine year career. His discography includes several EPs and live albums, as well as past full-lengths Circle Gets the Square (2002), Make the Clocks Move (2003), Split The Country, Split The Street (2005), Put Your Ghost to Rest (2006), Brother's Blood (2009), and Bad Books (2010), a side project Kevin worked on with Andy Hull and other members of Manchester Orchestra. Kevin has played with top artists including Bright Eyes, Manchester Orchestra, Okkervill River, Earlimart, and many more, and has performed at the following festivals: Coachella 2010, Bonnaroo 2010, Bamboozle 2010, Lollapalooza 2009, Austin City Limits 2007, and Soundwave 2008 (Australia).

Barnes Celebrates Recent Songwriting Grammy® Nomination for Best Country Song "God Gave Me You" (Recorded by Blake Shelton)

(New York, NY) - Razor & Tie artist Dave Barnes will release his new studio album, Stories To Tell, on March 13, 2012. The 11 track album of original material was produced by John Fields (Lifehouse, Switchfoot, Goo Goo Dolls, Jonas Brothers, P!nk). Dave Barnes will tour in 2012 in support of his new release (tour dates to soon follow). Barnes recently received his first Grammy® nomination for Best Country Song for "God Gave Me You," as performed by Blake Shelton from Shelton's 2011 album Red River Blue. Barnes' and Shelton's versions of the song have sold over one million singles to date.

Barnes' explains, "I've done all the other records in Nashville but for this one I really wanted to do something different, I wanted to get out of town and do something that wouldn't sound quite as much like the stuff I've done before."

Dave describes the music, "It's definitely poppy but everything is accounted for. There are no rogue parts or instrumentation, everything is really fleshed out and that's what I was going for thankfully. Working with John, I knew he does kind of what I wanted to do which is make a little more of a pop record and get out of the self-imposed box I've been in for a while."
The underlying theme of the new album is the Stories To Tell, most plucked from Barnes' personal life and experiences. He wrote much of the album after discovering that he and his wife were going to have their first baby this year. Two songs directly inspired by this news are the ballads "Mine to Love" and "One of Us." Another major theme of this album is enjoying the moment because life has unexpected twists. The songs "White Flag" and "Heaven Help Me" reflect this sentiment.

An artist that has never adhered to a specific genre, Barnes' music is generally inspired by an array of music influences ranging from rock, pop and country to blues, soul and R&B. "Stories To Tell, is another bookmark. For me, that's why I love making records; not because I was going for a specific sound but I was trying to encompass everything that I was listening to and enjoying at that time in my life. It is like a fun kind of musical history, like a photo album," add Barnes.

Billboard Magazine touted "Many of the best pop songwriters come out of Nashville, and Dave Barnes is one such singer/scribe now building momentum."
(New York, NY) - Razor & Tie artist Angelique Kidjo will release her new live album, Spirit Rising, on February 21st 2012. The 16 track album was recorded in Boston when Kidjo partnered with Boston's public television station, WGBH, for a captivating live performance featuring special guests Josh Groban, Dianne Reeves, Branford Marsalis, and Ezra Koenig (Vampire Weekend). The record features a collection of Kidjo originals and covers including the Curtis Mayfield classic "Move On Up." Angelique Kidjo will tour the US in early 2012 (tour dates below).

Joining Kidjo on Spirit Rising is her band of highly accomplished musicians, including Christian McBride on upright bass (also on her last studio album OYO), Thierry Vaton (piano), Dominic James (acoustic and electric guitar), Daniel Freedman (drums), Magatte Sow (percussion) and Marvin Sewell (electric guitar). Also featured are a trio of horn players from Berklee College, the Borromeo String Quartet and the Kuumba Singers of Harvard College. The album showcases Kidjo's breathtaking voice and exuberant spirit that can only be heard during one of her magical live performances. The Boston Globe said of the performance, "The special captures the African singer in fierce form... Kidjo's appeal cuts across not only genres, but also generations... Kidjo proves she can rattle the rafters."

The 90 minute concert was filmed in Boston at WGBH's studios and will be released for national public television broadcast on March 1, 2012. The concert is available on DVD through PBS at ShopPBS.org and is the first ever documentation of Kidjo's vibrant live performance. Also included on the DVD are five additional songs and a bonus interview with Angelique. The entire show is Kidjo's personal tribute to her homeland, and the beauty and experiences of the African culture she grew up with and continues to embrace. Joining Angelique and the impressive array of musicians playing with her are the dancers of the Tony Award winning Broadway musical FELA!

Born in the West African country of Benin, Angelique Kidjo is a critically acclaimed recording artist deemed "Africa's premiere diva" by Time Magazine. Kidjo was included by the BBC in its list of Africa's Most Iconic Figures and The Guardian has listed her as one of the Top 100 Most Inspiring Women in the World. In October 2011, Forbes listed Angelique as the first women in their list of their 40 Most Powerful Celebrities In Africa. Kidjo's 2008 album Djin Djin won the Grammy for Best Contemporary World Music album at the 50th Grammy Awards and the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding World Album in 2008, while her 2010 release OYO was nominated in the same category at the 53rd annual Grammy Awards ceremony. Kidjo's internationally celebrated repertoire includes collaborations with artists including Carlos Santana, Peter Gabriel, Alicia Keys, Josh Groban, Joss Stone, and more. Known for her dynamic and uplifting music, she has translated her distinctive work in the arts to that of philanthropy; by promoting education for girls in Africa through her foundation, Batonga, and as a UNICEF Goodwill ambassador. Kidjo has participated in several global events including the first 46664 Concert in Cape Town hosted by Nelson Mandela, the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo, and the 2010 FIFA World Cup Kick-Off Concert in Johannesburg.

Forthcoming New Studio Album, Promising Promises To Be Released On May 22nd

First Single, "Summer Is Over" Featuring Sara Bareilles Available Now On iTunes and
LISTEN HERE

(New York, NY) - Razor & Tie announces the addition of singer songwriter Jon McLaughlin to its label roster for a worldwide, multi-album deal. McLaughlin's forthcoming new studio album Promising Promises is set for release on May 22nd 2012. The album's first single, "Summer Is Over" featuring Sara Bareilles is on sale now - Buy HERE and Listen HERE. "Summer Is Over" will impact Hot AC radio the week of February 27th. Jon McLaughlin recently wrapped up a national fall co-headlining tour with Stephen Kellogg & The Sixers and will tour extensively this year in support of this new release.

In September of 2011, McLaughlin released a self-financed/self produced independent album, Forever If Ever. The forthcoming album Promising Promises will be a completely updated and remixed/remastered version of that album which will include all new artwork and packaging, three brand new songs along with the addition of Jon's duet with Sara Bareilles on the album's lead single, "Summer Is Over."

"It's so refreshing to find a group of people who have so much experience in the music business and are still so passionate about music," comments Jon McLaughlin. "I feel like I've found the right fit with Razor & Tie and I could not be more excited about working with them!"

"We are so pleased to announce Jon's addition to the Razor & Tie family," comments Pete Giberga, Vice President of A&R for Razor & Tie. "An accomplished pianist and singer for many years, Jon has written and produced a truly exceptional album that we believe will serve as a benchmark for his career for years to come. I personally could not be more proud to be associated with Jon and Promising Promises."

Promising Promises embodies McLaughlin's irresistible songwriting style and charismatic live performances. The album features songs all written and produced by Jon McLaughlin and was partially recorded in 2011 with additional material currently being completed in Jon's home state of Indiana with his core band. Work on the new material began after parting ways with previous label Island-Def Jam Music Group. Jon wrote over 40 songs and began narrowing them down. As he explains, "A lot of songs over the past few years, there's nothing wrong with them, but there was no weight or significance with me. It feels really good to have a record that I'm working on that I can really deliver wholeheartedly knowing that the fans are getting a piece of me." He continues, "There isn't a note on the record that I didn't spend hours scrutinizing over, or at the very least sitting with and playing over and over again. I feel like it's a real connection to me."

At the core of Promising Promises remains Jon's sweetly melancholy songs. McLaughlin was able to let his stories and characters live through painfully honest and telling lyrics. Key songs include the galvanizing pain of lost love on "These Crazy Times," written after the cataclysmic oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico and "If Only I" bearing a different take on loss, cleverly written from the perspective of a person deeply, madly in love with someone they've never worked up the courage to talk to. With Jon's lead single he returns to a more traditional view of heartbreak with the wistful "Summer is Over," written for a friend in the throes of a crushing break-up. Lest fans begin to think he is about to drown in the depths of love's despair, McLaughlin throws in "Without You Now." Another standout is the title track "Promising Promises" which features a minute long minute spectacular piano solo. Jon explains, "I wrote the song 'Promising Promises' during a really frustrating and challenging time in my career. The song became a turning point and became a clear indication of where I needed to start going as an artist-it became therapy. It says exactly what I wanted to say and says it exactly how I want to say it."

The mid-western born and raised Jon McLaughlin has released two albums 2007's Indiana and 2008's OK Now with Island Records. His hit singles "Beautiful Disaster" and "Beating My Heart" propelled the singer songwriter up the charts and to date he has sold more than 1 million digital tracks and 170,000 albums. In 2008 McLaughlin appeared as himself in the film Enchanted starring Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey singing the song "So Close." The song was nominated for an Academy Award and Jon performed it at the Oscars in front of 32 million US viewers. The 29 year old McLaughlin plays both piano and guitar and has performed on such television shows as The Today Show, The Tonight Show and The CBS Early Show and been featured on NPR's Weekend Edition. USA Today has raved about his "indelibly catchy" music and Billboard has declared his songs have "instantaneous hit potential, and proper promotion could propel the artist to superstar status." His music has been featured in film and television shows such as Disney's Bridge To Terabithia, Universal Pictures' Georgia Rule, CBS's Ghost Whisperer, CBS's Flashpoint, an ABC Primetime promo spot, NBC's Scrubs, and NBC's The Event. McLaughlin has toured with Kelly Clarkson, Adele, Colbie Caillat, Sara Bareilles, One Republic, Paolo Nutini, Duffy and many more. Jon McLaughlin is managed by Darren Gilmore at Watchdog Management - A Division of Macklam Feldman Management and represented for touring by Brodie Becker at William Morris Endeavor Entertainment.

Jon McLaughlin is the latest addition to independent label Razor & Tie's expanding roster that includes such artists as Vanessa Carlton, Nicole Atkins, Dave Barnes, Dar Williams, Kevin Devine, Saves The Day, Hit The Lights, The Summer Set, Foreigner, Dee Snider and the hard rock/metal bands P.O.D., All That Remains, Norma Jean, For Today, Shadows Fall, Chelsea Grin, Such Gold and many more. The New York City-based label is one of the fastest growing independent record companies in the United States, and has garnered both Platinum sales and Grammy awards in its 20-year history.

"Dar Williams, one of America's very best singer-songwriters... Her songs are beautiful. Some are like finely crafted short stories. They are, variously, devastatingly moving, tenderly funny, subtle without being in any way inaccessible, and utterly fresh-not a cliché or a clunker in her entire songbook." - The New Yorker (Nov. 2011)

"Seasons change, but Williams remains both ambitious and pleasingly plainspoken." - Rolling Stone

"A new generation of pop-folk enthusiasts lauds her as one of the genre's central figures." - Paste

"One of our most thoughtful singer-songwriters." - New York Daily News

New York, NY - Tuesday, January 10, 2012 - Beloved singer-songwriter Dar Williams is set to release her ninth studio album, In The Time Of Gods, on Razor & Tie on Tuesday, April 17, 2012. Dar's first album of original material in four years is produced by Kevin Killen (who has worked with such giants as U2, Elvis Costello, and Peter Gabriel), and features special guests Shawn Colvin and Larry Campbell, and a remarkable set of musicians including Charley Drayton, Gerry Leonard, and Rob Hyman. Williams presents 10 original compositions on In The Time Of Gods, which explores many of today's most challenging social issues told against the parables of Greek mythology. The inimitable collection of songs includes some of the richest and most evocative writing of Williams' career. She will kick off a national U.S. tour starting in April 2012 (upcoming confirmed tour dates are listed below).

In The Time Of Gods covers many relevant topics such as retaining one's moral compass, our personal responsibility in aiding to change the world, the politics of power, and following a guiding light in the midst of chaos. The ceaseless turmoil in the world today is of great concern to Williams who is also a wife, mother and community activist. Williams was inspired to return to the stories she was told as a child to see if the gods of the Parthenon would speak to her while penning songs for her latest release. As it turned out, these stories and characters helped her make sense of our eccentric world and shaped the scope of the album. Standout tracks on In The Time Of Gods include the album opener "I Am The One Who Will Remember Everything," "I Have Been Around The World," "Crystal Creek," "Summer Child," and "You Will Ride With Me Tonight."

"It was very intriguing to work with Kevin Killen and the musicians he handpicked for my latest album," says Williams. "Kevin really was the alchemist behind the record. Ron Hyman and I co-wrote four songs, so a lot of the album is based around our relationship. There really is an epic setting for the album, I'm at a point in my life where I feel like people are flying higher and falling harder. There is a grown up fairytale feeling to In The Time Of Gods. It sparkles with simple and beautiful layers, and it's muscular in places and very lyrical in others. It was a great service to my storytelling to have these fine musicians giving the arrangements so much strength and sophistication."

The great achievement of Williams' new album is it gracefully reminds us that wherever we are, whenever it may be, we are always living In the Time of the Gods. It's not to say we are living in 400 BC Greece, but rather, as Williams notes, "We are evolving in time. And that's what you're allowed to do with mythology - let it evolve and show who your Parthenon is now." Her latest narratives borrow from classic Greek archetypes, but she beautifully shows how flexible and expansive they are by easefully weaving in her own personal experiences and insights. Williams portrays a spellbinding contemporary interpretation of these classic ancient themes.

One of the most lauded singer-songwriters of her generation, Dar Williams has been captivating audiences with her sheer elegance and honesty in her folk-pop songwriting since the early '90s. As documented on her last album, the 2010 two-disc retrospective Many Great Companions, Williams' growth as an individual over her almost two-decade-long career has gone hand-in-hand with her evolution as an artist. She has toured with such distinguished artists as Joan Baez, Patty Griffin, Ani DiFranco, and Shawn Colvin, and recently became a regular contributor to the Huffington Post's Green Blog. A dedicated environmentalist, Williams toured throughout the northeast visiting children's camps and planting bee gardens in summer 2011.

Williams has released one live album - Out There Live (2001); seven studio albums - The Honesty Room (1993), Mortal City (1996), End of the Summer (1997), The Green World (2000), The Beauty of the Rain (2003), My Better Self (2005), and Promised Land (2008); one live DVD - Live at Bearsville Theater (2007); and Many Great Companions (2010). In 1995, two years after self-releasing The Honesty Room, she signed with Razor & Tie Entertainment, beginning a relationship now in its 16th year.

All That Remains are currently writing material for their sixth album and this will be one of ATR's first performances of 2012.

The 14th Annual New England Metal and Hardcore Festival is a three-day affair, beginning Friday, April 20. The Black Dahlia Murder will headline Friday night, with All That Remains on Saturday and Killswitch Engage will close out the weekend on Sunday night.

The complete lineup for Friday includes The Black Dahlia Murder, The Acacia Strain, Oceano, All Shall Perish, Nile, Skeletonwitch, Lionheart, Fleshgod Apocalypse, First Blood, Molotov Solution, The Contortionist, Reign Supreme, Conducting From The Grave, Fit For An Autopsy, Incendiary, Palehorse, Hour Of Penance, Legion, and Relentless.
