VANESSA CARLTON PREMIERES NEW VIDEO, "HEAR THE BELLS," FROM RABBITS ON THE RUN ON VEVO.COM

VANESSA CARLTON PREMIERES NEW VIDEO, "HEAR THE BELLS," FROM RABBITS ON THE RUN ON VEVO.COM

Album Rabbits On The Run Out Now To Rave Reviews

(New York, NY) - Vanessa Carlton's new video for the song "Hear The Bells" from her album Rabbits On The Run, premieres exclusively today on VEVO.com. The video was directed by Jake Davis (My Chemical Romance, Drake & Trey Songz) and features rare never seen before footage of Carlton's ballet history.

"This visual clip for "Hear The Bells" is the most revealing video I've ever done. Re-teaming with Jake Davis and his team was fluid and an inspired experience. It was filmed in my house in New York City - the place where I wrote the song. Doing a video for this song was Jake's idea and I'm really happy he pushed me to do it. It is a reveal of my history woven in with the story of a reclusive woman based on Little Edie of Grey Gardens- an eccentric and wonderful lady who rarely left her house. I believe we are our own fortune tellers," explains Vanessa Carlton.

She continues, "Hear the Bells" is about clarity, enlightenment. It is song map about the journey of someone who is seeking out a remedy. But remedies lie within us. That is powerful and true but not always obvious. I hope the song is a reminder. In society, the sound of bells marks an important moment in time, whether from a church tower or a wind chime in a garden, it is always a sort of mystical alarm."

"Working with Vanessa is always a real pleasure," adds video director Jake Davis. "She gave me a lot of freedom with "Bells" to be creative and experimental. I wanted to make something special for her, as well as her friends, family, and fans. I hope they love it."

Vanessa's critically acclaimed new album, Rabbits on the Run (Razor & Tie) was released in 2011 to rave reviews and Carlton appeared on host of television programs including The Tonight Show, The Today Show, Conan, Chelsea Lately and was featured on NPR's Weekend Edition. Rabbits on the Run is the most honest and uncompromising album of Vanessa Carlton's career, revealing a striking departure and an exciting snapshot into the evolution of this exquisite storyteller and inventive musician. The album was recorded in the UK at Peter Gabriel's world-renowned Real World Studios with producer Steve Osborne (U2, B-52's, KT Tunstall, Doves). The album finds Vanessa returning to music-making in its most organic form to create ten intimate, evocative songs, recorded directly to tape with her close-knit team of collaborators which also included Patrick Hallahan (My Morning Jacket), and Ari Ingber (The Upwelling) both playing on the album. Partly inspired by two books, Richard Adams' Watership Down and Stephen Hawking's A Brief History of Time, Rabbits on the Run is 10-song set of gorgeous, haunting melodies and finely-crafted stories.

PRAISE FOR RABBITS ON THE RUN:

"Magnificent." - Stevie Nicks

"Rabbits on the Run is Vanessa Carlton's career high water mark thus far, especially on the stunning "Hear the Bells" and "Dear California", a disarming love letter to the Golden State." - KCRW's Chris Douridas

"A lovely sort of melancholy magic." - Entertainment Weekly

"Vanessa Carlton again demonstrates her knack for pensive, piano-driven pop on 'Carousel' from Rabbits on the Run." - People

"Singer and pianist Ms. Carlton has long aspired to a different brand of pop stardom: less navel-baring...and more melodramatic, heavily arranged pop symphonies." - The New York Times

"Wistful, piano-led balladry, but there's a touch of darkness and complexity on display here that wasn't as apparent on her earlier hits.... she's certainly not just another sensitive girl with a piano...." - RollingStone.com

"Carousel" has an undeniably comforting folk feel to it (think Regina Spektor or Feist), with a touch of Billy Joel in the piano part (can't be mad at that) and a hauntingly layered chorus.... Stirringly soulful singer-songwriter" - MTV Buzzworthy

Close to Home will hit the road this summer as part of the high profile 2012 Scream Like You Mean It Tour alongside Attack Attack!, We Came As Romans, The Acacia Strain amongst many other bands. The tour kicks off July 7th in Worcetser, MA and wraps on August 10th in Allentown, PA (tour dates below).

Cincinnati based Close to Home formed in 2005 with a shared passion and dream. Calling themselves Close to Home, which reflected their desire to write about real issues that affect everyday life (and also happened to be a Get Up Kids song that Wells loved). The original line up was put to the test as they suffered a tragic loss in 2006 when bassist Brad Andress passed from his battle with Cancer. In late 2011 lead vocalist Nick Stiens departed the band. The current lineup is Andrew DeNeef (Vocals), Josh Wells (Guitar), JJ Cooper (Guitar), Derek Foust (Bass) and Travis Hartman (Drums). CTH has released three studio EPs, one live EP and two full length albums to date- One Chance, One Time EP (Self-released, 2006), Standby EP (Self-released, April, 2008), Let It Be Known EP (Self-released, October, 2009). The band's live EP, Legends Live On was self-released in 2008 and was the last live show that bassist Brad Andress played before his death. In 2010 CTH signed with Artery Recordings/Razor & Tie and in 2011 released their first full length label album, Never Back Down. The album was produced by Tom Denney (formerly of A Day To Remember) and co-producer Eric Tuffendsam. The album combined elements of heavy post-hardcore and metalcore with pop punk, leading to a melodic hardcore sound. Close to Home has toured across the United States with bands such as Silverstein, Dance Gavin Dance, I Set My Friends On Fire, In Fear and Faith and We Came as Romans as well as on The Vans Warped Tour.

Artery Recordings is the label home to The Artery Foundation and an imprint of independent label Razor & Tie, whose roster now includes For The Fallen Dreams, Chelsea Grin, Vanna, Attila, I Declare War, A Bullet For Pretty Boy, Close To Home, Adestria, The Crimson Armada and Casino Madrid.
