Shads To Hit The Road with Fear Factory This Spring; Additional Headlining Dates Announced
(New York, NY) - Grammy-nominated metal band Shadows Fall has completed work on its seventh studio album, Fire From The Sky. The new album is confirmed for release in-stores and online, May 15th. Recorded at Zing Studios in late 2011, Fire From The Sky reunites Shadows Fall with long-time friend, producer/engineer and Killswitch Engage/Times Of Grace guitarist, Adam Dutkiewicz (Devil Wears Prada, All That Remains). The album was mixed by Brian Virtue and features some of the band's most complex and melodic material in years.
Vocalist Brian Fair adds, "'Fire From The Sky' is not a concept album by any means but a few common themes do link these songs together. These days, the world seems to be spiraling out of control into a frantic state of confusion, corruption and chaos. It's as if we are living under the shadow of an impending apocalypse. The songs on this album were inspired by this chaos and the struggle to find answers in these dark days."
Pre-order bundles are available today in five different configurations offering a variety of items including music, t-shirts and limited edition band merch. All pre-order bundles include a poster, and both a physical copy and digital download of Fire From The Sky. Special bundles offer a selection of different bands t-shirts and a limited edition Shadows Fall flag. Pre-order bundles are available for purchase HERE.
The album artwork for Fire From The Sky was revealed exclusively on RevolverMag.com earlier this week - view HERE.

Joe Jackson To Release Duke Ellington Tribute Album, The Duke Out June 26th on Razor & Tie
"I revere Duke Ellington, but I didn't want this to be a reverent album," Joe Jackson says of The Duke, his new tribute to American jazz giant Ellington.
True to Jackson's word, The Duke is a decidedly unconventional salute to Ellington, demonstrating the timeless brilliance of his classic compositions while showcasing Jackson's sublime skills as an arranger, instrumentalist and vocal interpreter. Although it's only the second time he's recorded an album not comprised of his own compositions, The Duke is nonetheless a deeply personal project for Jackson, whose longstanding affinity for Ellington's pioneering spirit has served as a key inspiration throughout his own three-decades-plus career.
The Duke finds the iconoclastic English singer/composer/arranger/keyboardist and five-time Grammy nominee interpreting 15 Ellington classics over the course of ten tracks, interspersing melodic and rhythmic elements of various compositions in a manner that's consistent with Ellington's own freewheeling approach. Rather than emulating the songs' original big-band settings, Jackson filters the material through his own musical imagination while exploring an assortment of unexpected grooves and textures. The resulting album is a seamless fusion of sounds and styles, whose abundant sense of playfulness is consistent with Ellington's boundary-breaking attitude.
"Ellington didn't consider his own arrangements to be sacred," Jackson notes. "He constantly reworked them, sometimes quite radically. So I think my approach is in the spirit of the man himself."
Jackson's distinctive voice is featured on I'm Beginning To See The Light, Mood Indigo, and I Got It Bad (And That Ain't Good), while It Don't Mean A Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing) finds him trading vocals with punk icon Iggy Pop. R&B diva Sharon Jones, meanwhile, shines with a soulful I Ain't Got Nothin' But The Blues. In keeping with Ellington's multiculturalism, Jackson also encouraged Iranian singer Sussan Deyhim to perform a soaring Caravan in Farsi, and Lilian Vieira, of the Brazilian/Dutch collective Zuco 103, to create a sunny, sexy Portuguese version of Perdido.
The album's striking mix of electronic and organic textures is especially evident on instrumentals like Isfahan, Rockin' In Rhythm, The Mooche, and Black and Tan Fantasy. The musicians include two contemporary jazz stars, violinist Regina Carter and bassist Christian McBride; rock guitar hero Steve Vai; drummer Ahmir '?uestlove' Thompson and other members of The Roots; and two of Jackson's old associates, guitarist Vinnie Zummo and percussionist Sue Hadjopoulos. The album was recorded and mixed by the legendary Elliot Scheiner (Steely Dan, Sting, Bob Dylan).
Though The Duke is a tribute album, it's also very much a Joe Jackson album, consistent with his long-standing sense of musical adventure.
"When I started this", Jackson says, "It felt a little daunting - like, how am I gonna pull this off? But it started to pick up momentum, and took on a life of its own. I got to work with people I never thought I'd be able to get, and they were all extremely enthusiastic and supportive of the project. It all came together in a way that surpassed my expectations. And it's been a hell of a lot of fun."

CLOSE TO HOME ANNOUNCE FIRST U.S. TOUR FOR 2012
CLOSE TO HOME ANNOUNCE FIRST U.S. TOUR FOR 2012
Co-Headliner With Ice Nine Kill
New Album Expected For 2012
(New York, NY) - Post Hard-core rockers Close to Home (CTH) announce their first U.S. tour of 2012. The band will head out this Spring and will co-headline with Ice Nine Kill with support by For All I Am and One Year Later. The tour will make stops throughout the Midwest and West Coast (full tour dates below). Close to Home have been working on their upcoming new album to be released this year through Artery Recordings / Razor & Tie. The album was recorded with engineer and producer Andrew Wade (A Day to Remember, The Word Alive).
CTH guitarist Josh Wells adds, "After being in the studio for two months we are all super excited to get back out on the road. I can't wait to show people how awesome some of these new songs are live, and how much Andrew killing it vocally."
Cincinnati based Close to Home formed in 2005 with a shared passion and dream. Calling themselves Close to Home, which reflected their desire to write about real issues that affect every day life (and also happened to be a Get Up Kids song that Wells loved). The original line up was put to the test as they suffered a tragic loss in 2006 when bassist Brad Andress passed from his battle with Cancer. In late 2011 lead vocalist Nick Stiens departed the band. The current line up is Andrew DeNeef (Vocals), Josh Wells (Guitar), JJ Cooper (Guitar), Derek Foust (Bass) and Travis Hartman (Drums). CTH has released three studio EPs, one live EP and two full length albums to date - One Chance, One Time EP (Self-released, 2006), Standby EP (Self-released, April, 2008), Let It Be Known EP (Self-released, October, 2009). The band's live EP, Legends Live On was self released in 2008 and was the last live show that bassist Brad Andress played before his death. In 2010 CTH signed with Artery Recordings/Razor & Tie and in 2011 released their first full length label album, Never Back Down. The album was produced by Tom Denney (formerly of A Day To Remember) and co-producer Eric Tuffendsam. The album combined elements of heavy post-hardcore and metalcore with pop punk, leading to a melodic hardcore sound. Close to Home has toured across the United States with bands such as Silverstein, Dance Gavin Dance, I Set My Friends On Fire, In Fear and Faith and We Came as Romans as well as on The Vans Warped Tour.

(New York, NY) - Dee Snider, the unmistakable front-man of the rock band Twisted Sister, will release his new studio album Dee Does Broadway on May 8th on Razor & Tie. The album features Dee's powerful voice and theatrical persona as he exudes his rock 'n' roll take on several Broadway classics. The new album will coincide with the release of his first ever autobiography, Shut Up and Give Me The Mic (Gallery Books) on May 8th.
Dee Does Broadway
Dee Does Broadway features several special guest stars, including Broadway and television icon Bebe Neuwirth on the Damn Yankees song "Whatever Lola Wants," Broadway legend ,Patti LuPone on a West Side Story Medley "Tonight/Somewhere," pop icon Cyndi Lauper on Sweet Charity's "Big Spender," Clay Aiken of American Idol on the Guys and Dolls classic "Luck Be a Lady Tonight," the stars of the Broadway hit musical Priscilla Queen of the Desert (Will Swenson, Tony Sheldon, and Nick Adams) on South Pacific's "There Is Nothin' Like A Dame," Mark Wood of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra playing violin on the Phantom of the Opera ballad "Music Of The Night," as well a special rendition of "The Joint Is Jumpin" from Ain't Misbehavin' with Dee's oldest son, Jesse Blaze Snider. Songs are also featured from classic Broadway shows including Cabaret, Chicago, The Threepenny Opera, Anything Goes, and Sweeney Todd.
Dee Does Broadway was spawned from a number of voicemails exchanged featuring "Broadway Tunes" sung as messages between Dee Snider and Alice Cooper in 2009 and Dee's 2010 Broadway run in the Broadway rock musical Rock of Ages. Inspired to take this musical journey, the classically trained countertenor (who sang with his high school choir and always loud as hell) Snider enlisted producers Bob Kulick and Brett Chassen (whom Dee worked with on the metalized Frank Sinatra tribute called Sin-atra). The album was mixed by the legendary Ric Wake and Gustavo Celis, and features the incredible orchestrations and playing by the renowned composer/arranger Doug Katsaros and the bass guitar playing of one of rock's prolific players, the legendary Rudy Sarzo. The amazing guitar and drum work was all by co-producers Bob Kulick and Brett Chassen.
Dee Snider explains the process, "Over the past year I have worked closely with my team and collaborators picking from decades of musical hits with only two rules: The song had to speak to me as a singer on some level, and it could not be a rock song to begin with. No Jesus Christ Superstar, Grease, Hair, Rent, Rocky Horror, etc. What would be the challenge in that?" He continues, "There are many who think doing an album of rocked out show tunes is pure insanity on my part. Apparently, they haven't seen any photos of me from the 70's and 80's. Could I have been in a more theatrical band? Ever since I was a kid, I'd heard the real power inherent in a lot of songs from musicals and this record gives me the chance to show it."
Never straying from his rock roots, Dee Snider puts his own unique spin on musical favorites...It may not be metal...but it definitely rocks!

Shut Up And Give Me The Mic - Book Signings
May 7: Ridgewood, NJ - Bookends 7 pm
Filled with entertaining anecdotes and candid confessions, Shut Up and Give Me the Mic takes you through the good times and bad with a heavy metal star who worked as hard as he played, and who did it all for his wife, four kids, and millions of fans. As lead singer and songwriter of Twisted Sister, Dee Snider became the poster boy for heavy metal, hair bands, and the wild side of rock. Now, in his twisted new memoir, he reveals the real stories behind the crazy makeup, the big hair, and badass hits like "We're Not Gonna Take It" and "I Wanna Rock." In his journey from every parent's worst teenage nightmare to Renaissance man, Dee avoided the usual pitfalls associated with rock stars. But that didn't stop Tipper Gore and the Parents Music Resource Center from targeting him-a fight that led him to testify before Congress with Frank Zappa. He may have been slapped with a Parental Advisory warning label, but, through it all, Snider stayed positive and focused on being the best he could be.
