World Music Artist Angelique Kidjo and Celebrated Rocker Dweezil Zappa Receive Grammy Nominations

In a perfect summation to a remarkable year, international music star Angelique Kidjo has been recognized by the 52nd annual Grammy Awards in the category of Best Contemporary World Music Album for her Razor & Tie release OYO. This is the second time Kidjo has been nominated in the category, previously winning in 2009 for DJIN DJIN.

Renowned rocker Dweezil Zappa was once again recognized in the category of Best Rock Instrumental Performance for "The Deathless Horse" from his latest Zappa Plays Zappa album RETURN OF THE SON OF... Zappa took home the award in the same category in 2009 for "Peaches En Regalia" off of his 2008 release, ZAPPA PLAYS ZAPPA.

Produced by Kidjo herself along with Jean Hebrail, OYO is a return to her musical roots and inspirations, a collection of original songs combined with classic covers all infused with her distinctive international sound. The New York Times called Kidjo "Bold and unstoppable" and Billboard touted her as "One of Africa's most globally successful performers." The single, "Move On Up," features the guest vocals of Bono and John Legend. Legend joined Kidjo to perform at the 2010 FIFA World Cup Kickoff Concert in South Africa, and the duo were joined by The Roots during a July performance on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.

Dweezil Zappa continues to keep the amazing music of his father alive with the release of RETURN OF THE SON OF..., a sprawling two-disc live collection of 14 Frank Zappa classics performed lovingly by the Zappa Plays Zappa band. The album was produced by Dweezil and recorded over the last 2 years with a majority of the songs captured at a three-night residency at The Morse Theatre in Chicago in October 2008. "Zappa Plays Zappa is total truth in advertising: a fantastic band led by guitarist Dweezil Zappa, dedicated to performing the music of his late father with exacting precision," said Rolling Stone.
