NBA ALL-STAR DWIGHT HOWARD LAUNCHES DEBUT ALBUM
SHOOT FOR THE STARS
CD Benefiting BETA Center Takes Center Court On October 26
He shoot! He scores...a record contract! NBA All-Star, Orland Magic center, Olympic Gold Medalist and humanitarian, Dwight Howard can add one more credit to his growing list of accomplishments - recording artist. On October 26th, Dwight Howard will release his debut album, Shoot For The Stars from Razor & Tie/KIDZ BOP. The full-length CD lineup includes MVP worthy recordings of popular arena anthems and classic hits, plus the original song, "Shoot For The Stars," which encourages his young fans to pursue their dreams.
On Shoot For The Stars, Dwight is backed by his All-Star Band, featuring some of the industry's most talented musicians and session players, including Grammy winner Luis Conte (Eric Clapton, Santana), Abraham Laboriel (Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles), Leland Sklar (James Taylor, Phil Collins) and Tim Pierce (Bruce Springsteen, Michael Jackson). Also accompanying Dwight on the album is a group of talented young kids who sing backup vocals on each song. Special guests, the KIDZ BOP Kids, join Dwight on Michael Jackson's "Will You Be There." A portion of the proceeds from sales of Dwight's album will go to benefit the BETA Center (www.betacenter.org), the Orlando, FL based organization whose mission is to provide children and parents with the knowledge and support needed for strong and healthy families.
Shoot For The Stars was produced by Latin Grammy nominated producer, Loren Harriet, who also helmed former New York Yankee star Bernie Williams' two critically acclaimed albums.
"This record is a dream come true for me in so many ways," says Howard. "Recording this album for me ranks with being the first pick in the NBA draft, my first NBA All-Star game and winning a gold medal at the Olympics. Razor & Tie and KIDZ BOP have been incredible and I hope everyone enjoys the album as much as I did recording it."
Cliff Chenfeld and Craig Balsam, Co-Founders of Razor & Tie and KIDZ BOP, added, "Dwight Howard is one of the best players in the NBA, but it's his positive attitude, exuberance and sportsmanship both on and off the court that make him a real All-Star. Razor & Tie is proud to be releasing his debut album that we believe perfectly captures his humor and heart. We think that Shoot For The Stars will be a slam dunk hit with kids and fans."
Hoop there it is! From Bob Marley to the Black Eyes Peas and MC (Hammer) to MJ, basketball's Superman brings his larger-than-life personality and voice to some of the NBA's most popular stadium staples. Dwigth works his "magic" to add his own take on fan favorites such as "Whoomp (Hoop) There It Is" and "U Can't Touch This (Howard Time)" where he does pitch-perfect impersonations of his friends Charles Barkley, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Orlando Magic coach, Stan Van Gundy. Each of the record's 11 songs features background vocals from several of the industry's top kid performers.

DAVE BARNES WISHES YOU A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS
Tennessee's Rising Star Releases New Holiday Album, Featuring Guest Vocals Of Lady Antebellum's Hillary Scott
With a nod to the classics, Dave Barnes' first-ever holiday project, Very Merry Christmas, evokes the traditional soul of the Christmas season while adding splashes of his well-known signature contemporary flair and lively persona. At one familiar and cozy, Very Merry Christmas features four yuletide staples meshed with six original penned by Barnes himself. Very Merry Christmas will be available both physically and digitally November 9th.
Very Merry Christmas showcases the quintessential Dave Barnes - classy, romantic, and hip with traces of his traditional Southern upbringing. The album's highlight, "Christmas Tonight," features Lady Antebellum's Hillary Scott joining Barnes for a special Christmas duet. The additional original tunes include more guest appearances, such as Thad Cockrell on "Mary and Joseph" and Grammy-award winning singer-songwriters Shannon Sanders and Drew Ramsey who appear alongside Barnes with Scat Springs on "Very Merry Christmas."
Barnes adds his own classic touch to the cover songs, including Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You," Bing Corsby's classic "I'll Be Home For Christmas," and "The Christmas Song." BAD BOOKS TO BE RELEASED PHYSICALLY NOVEMBER 9TH VIA FAVORITE GENTLEMEN RECORDINGS AND RAZOR & TIE
Album Available Digitally October 19th
A true accident if there ever was one; Bad Books was never an intended nor calculated side project of Kevin Devine and Manchester Orchestra's Andy Hull. Though the two musicians have collaborated and performed together on tour within the Favorite Gentlemen community of artists for years now, the genesis of Bad Books came from a simple idea to fill space and time off the road by collaborating on a small batch of songs together at the top of the year. With no agenda and no expectations, what was birthed just one week later was Bad Books, a fully realized album encompassing five compositions each from both Devine and Hull, with members of Manchester Orchestra filling out the sound and the band. The self-titled debut will be released November 9th via Favorite Gentlemen Recordings and Razor & Tie.
Stream "You Wouldn't Have To Ask," at www.facebook.com/BadBooksMusic.
In contrast to previous outputs from Manchester Orchestra and Devine, Bad Books cradles a much more noticeable pop aesthetic and energy than either artist has probably ever showcased before. Nowhere is this more evident than in songs like "You Wouldn't Have To Ask" and "Holding Down the Laughter."
Engineered by Robert McDowell (of Manchester Orchestra) with help from drummer Ben Homola, and mixed by Chris Bracco (of Devine's 'Goddamn Band'), Bad Books progressed in the most organic and natural way possible. Free from any boundaries or restrictions, Devine and Hull were able to craft a beautiful body of melodies, highlighting arcs of high and low throughout, and utilizing the stark imagery and storytelling for which both of them are known.
For Devine, Hull, and the rest of Manchester Orchestra, choosing the direction of the road less traveled resulted in sonic harmonies and woven textures that meshes what these best friends do best. Some accidents were just meant to be.
Be sure to catch Bad Books when they play select dates this October (dates below.) On November 24th, they will join the rest of the Favorite Gentlemen family for "The Stuffing," the label's first annual festival in Atlanta on Thanksgiving Eve. The album will be released digitally on October 19th and available for presale starting the week of September 20th. Bundles will include CDs, posters and vinyl. A limited number of special edition packages will include the CD, poster, vinyl, and an actual book with a hidden cut out that will house the CD and other items.
