"GO SPEED RACER GO" THEME SONG AVAILABLE MAY 6TH EXCLUSIVELY VIA RAZOR & TIE ENTERTAINMENT
"SPEED RACER" MOVIE DUE OUT MAY 9TH IN THEATERS NATIONWIDE
(New York, NY) - On May 6th, the title song from the new live-action movie SPEED RACER, "Go Speed Racer Go", will be available exclusively via Razor & Tie Entertainment. Performed by Ali Dee and The Deekrompessors, the theme song from the upcoming motion picture will be available on all online music services worldwide. In addition, a limited run of vinyl and CD singles will also be available. The song will be featured as part of in-theater audio programming in 6,500 auditoriums nationwide in the AMC, Regal and Cinemark chains, reaching an audience of 4 million.
Produced by Ali Dee and Jason Gleed, "Go Speed Racer Go" is a high-energy, urban cut inspired by the original theme song from the classic television series. The four-track digital single "Go Speed Racer Go" - Theme Song from the Motion Picture SPEED RACER will also include two instrumentals tracks and the film version of the song. SPEED RACER hits theaters nationwide on May 9th.
From the Wachowski brothers and producer Joel Silver, creators of the groundbreaking "The Matrix" trilogy, comes the high-octane family adventure SPEED RACER. Hurtling down the track, careening around, over and through the competition, Speed Racer (Emile Hirsch) is a natural behind the wheel. Born to race cars, Speed is aggressive, instinctive and, most of all, fearless. His only real competition is the memory of the brother he idolized-the legendary Rex Racer, whose death in a race has left behind a legacy that Speed is driven to fulfill.
SPEED RACER stars Emile Hirsch, Christina Ricci, John Goodman, Susan Sarandon, Matthew Fox, Benno Furmann, Hiroyuki Sanada, Asian pop superstar Rain, and Richard Roundtree. The Wachowski brothers directed SPEED RACER from their own screenplay. Joel Silver, Grant Hill, Andy Wachowski and Larry Wachowski are the producers with David Lane Seltzer, Michael Lambert and Bruce Berman serving as executive producers.
Based on the classic series created by anime pioneer Tatsuo Yoshida, the live-action SPEED RACER showcases the kind of revolutionary visual effects and cutting-edge storytelling that have become benchmarks of the Wachowski brothers' films. "Speed Racer" is a Warner Bros. Pictures presentation, in association with Village Roadshow Pictures, of a Silver Pictures Production, in association with Anarchos Productions.
Digitally re-mastered into the unparalleled image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience with proprietary IMAX DMR (digital re-mastering) technology, "Speed Racer: The IMAX Experience" will debut concurrently with the nationwide 35mm release in conventional theatres. SPEED RACER has been rated PG by the MPAA for sequences of action, some violence and language.

(New York, NY) - Executive produced by the legendary Tony Visconti (T. Rex, David Bowie, Morrissey), Semi Precious Weapons' debut album WE LOVE YOU is scheduled for release this fall. The Guardian (in the United Kingdom) has already called SPW "the most important band in America." With undeniable musical chops, the band has sold out shows across the country and will tour this summer, including a residency at Viper Room in Los Angeles in June (tour dates below). Semi Precious Weapons is Justin Tranter (vocals), Aaron Lee Tasjan (guitar), Cole Whittle (bass), and Dan Crean (drums).
As one of his first signings at Razor & Tie, Michael Caplan, Executive Vice President of A&R, commented, "Early in my high school years I learned that I was better at criticizing others rather than playing my saxophone. In the 30 years I have been purveying my craft, I have constantly been searching for stars. Justin "Precious" Tranter, lead vocalist and ringmaster, is a fiercely charismatic six foot tall platinum blonde (make that six foot, six inches with stilettos). In addition to his rock savvy, Tranter helms a hugely successful rock inspired jewelry line, Fetty. The line is available at Urban Outfitters and Hot Topic; an exclusive high-end version is also sold at Barneys, NY. Tranter recently designed a rock 'n' roll limited edition SPW sneaker for DKNY.
Voted the best band in New York in The Village Voice readers poll (October 2007) their music has spread on the web with their popular YouTube videos, MySpace page and through celebrity bloggers such as Perez Hilton. THE WORLD LOVES DAVE BARNES! "ME AND YOU AND THE WORLD" CRACKS INTO TOP 100 OF BILLBOARD ALBUM CHART; ALBUM HITS #3 ON ITUNES
(New York, NY) - Singer/songwriter Dave Barnes' first release for Razor & Tie Entertainment, ME AND YOU AND THE WORLD, has debuted at # 94 on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart, bypassing the Heatseekers chart for new artists. The album also spent the week in the Top 10 of the iTunes album chart, peaking at #3, ahead of such luminaries as Madonna, Moby, and Counting Crows and is #13 on the Billboard Digital Album chart. Barnes' first-week sales were bolstered by an impressive online presale of the new album, which saw a groundswell of support from his fans. The success of ME AND YOU AND THE WORLD can be attributed to Barnes' strong online presence, a devoted fanbase, and of course, talent.
Dave Barnes' first single, "Until You," continues to climb the chart at Triple A radio and impacts at Hot AC this week; a video for the song will be serviced next week. "Until You" was recently selected for USA Today's weekly playlist. The paper raved: "Hard to go wrong with a song...(like this)". Other standout songs from the album include the ballad "On a Night Like This," the Motown inspired "Someday" and the roof-raising gospel number "Carry Me Through." "On A Night Like This" was recently featured in the ABC Family show, Wildfire. Barnes kicked off a national headlining tour last week (please see below for tour dates).
"Razor & Tie has been able to further expand on the base that Dave and his manager Chris DeTray have built over the course of Dave's two self-released CDs, which sold over 35,000 albums and over 80,000 individual track downloads," commented Razor & Tie Senior Vice President Marketing Michael Krumper. Singer/songwriter, Dave Barnes debuts for the first time ever on any Billboard chart at #94, with ME AND YOU AND THE WORLD. The album also spent the week in the Top 10 of the iTunes album chart, peaking at #3, and is #13 on the Billboard Digital Album chart. The Mississippi-bred, Nashville-based Barnes is not only known for his melodic tunes, but also for his comedic story-telling abilities. Armed with his acoustic guitar, clean-cut good looks and a knack for catchy hooks, Dave Barnes can do it all.
The gold-certified original motion picture soundtrack ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS leaps this week up to #5 on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart and to #1 on the Billboard Soundtrack chart. It has spent nearly five months near the top of the charts the album has sold over 800,000 units to date and continues to have a strong digital hold, with over 1 million cumulative sales for individual tracks. THE MILITIA GROUP INKS WITH RAZOR & TIE ENTERTAINMENT FOR NORTH AMERICAN DISTRIBUTION
CATALOG FEATURES OVER 70 RELEASES
(New York, NY) - Further solidifying its position as the #1 independent label in the United States, Razor & Tie Entertainment has inked The Militia Group (TMG) to an exclusive distribution deal for North America. The Long Beach, California-based label boasts a diverse catalog of over 70 releases from such artists as Copeland, Cartel, Juliette & the Licks (featuring Juliette Lewis), The Rocket Summer and Lovedrug. To date, TMG has sold over one million records with over 2.5 million digital downloads. New releases for 2008 include albums from We Shot The Moon, The New Frontiers and Everybody Else.

The Militia Group's founder/owner, Rory Felton, spent his formative years in Kansas City playing in garage bands, promoting shows at VFW halls, authoring a 'zine, and releasing records in the true DIY fashion. Founded out of Felton's USC dorm room, in 2000 The Militia Group hit an early stride with melodic punksters Rufio, who sold 140,000 copies (and filled up his dorm room with CDs, much to the aggravation of his roommate). Rufio's success made it apparent that Felton needed to make TMG a full-time venture. NEW ZPZ TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED
(New York, NY) - On April 29th, Razor & Tie Entertainment will release ZAPPA PLAYS ZAPPA on DVD. The DVD features the astounding music of Frank Zappa played by an expert ensemble led by his son, Dweezil, an accomplished musician in his own right.
Considered by many to be a genius composer, guitarist and producer, Frank Zappa's body of work is as vast, as it is diverse. His untimely death in 1993 left legions of loyal fans missing his satirical flair and brilliant musicianship. A few years ago, Dweezil decided that his father's music had been missing from the musical landscape for far too long and chose to dive headlong into the massive undertaking that became ZAPPA PLAYS ZAPPA. This extensive concert tour respectfully brings selected compositions from the elder Zappa's body of work back to the stage.
Dweezil states, "Frank's music is unique. It deserves to be discovered by today's audience. They don't have any idea what they are missing. His music is not going to suddenly appear on popular radio or TV programs and it's not going to get massive exposure in the media, so the only way to introduce it to new people is to play his music live. Frank always called his music the 'World's Finest Optional Entertainment' and it really is." The ZAPPA PLAYS ZAPPA tour offers audiences an opportunity to spend an evening with Frank Zappa's music, performed meticulously by a group of top-flight musicians who were schooled in its subtleties.
The ZAPPA PLAYS ZAPPA tour will be playing select dates (including festivals) beginning in June, with more dates to be announced for the fall. This year's ZPZ line-up features: Dweezil Zappa (guitar, vocals), Aaron Arntz (keyboards and trumpet), Scheila Gonzalez (saxophone, flute, keyboards and vocals), Pete Griffin (bass), Billy Hulting (marimba, mallets and percussion), Jamie Kime (guitar), Joe Travers (drums and vocals) and special guest Ray White (guitar and vocals). In 2006, two ZAPPA PLAYS ZAPPA shows were pristinely filmed and recorded (in Portland, OR and Seattle, WA, respectively) to capture the experience. The result is a double-DVD set with a 12-track bonus audio CD. Produced by Pierre and Francois Lamoureux for Strobosonic, the DVDs feature over three hours of performances of Dweezil's "rocking teenage combo", including previous 2006 tour special guests: Steve Vai, Napoleon Murphy Brock and Terry Bozzio. A limited edition fanpack will also be available which features the two-DVD set and three CDs containing the entire audio content, totaling 270 minutes.
